The EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, warned on Monday that the bloc must remain "vigilant" in the face of the rise in sabotage attempts on European soil by Russia, which seeks to "divide" and "intimidate" Europeans into reducing their support for Ukraine.
According to several sources, the EU intends to strengthen its response to hybrid attacks coming from Russia and, in that framework, the Defence Ministers will discuss in Brussels how to calibrate a coordinated response following the recent surge of incidents involving Russian drones and sabotage of public infrastructure.
Kallas said the bloc will work with the European Commission, Member States and the Foreign Action Service on a protocol that covers actions below the threshold of armed aggression, with the aim of acting jointly against those threats.
