According to EFE, the new adaptation of 'East of Eden' for Netflix, available on October 1, is directed by Zoe Kazan, granddaughter of Elia Kazan, and focuses on the villain Cathy Ames portrayed by Florence Pugh. The eight-episode production aims to be more faithful to the original text than the 1955 film version.
